Understanding ITIN Loans: Homeownership Without an SSN
Joseph Caskey
Not having a Social Security Number doesn't mean homeownership is out of reach. ITIN loans open the door for millions of non-U.S. citizens to buy a home.
For many non-U.S. citizens living and working in America, homeownership can feel like an impossible dream — especially without a Social Security Number. ITIN loans change that.
An ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) is issued by the IRS to individuals who are required to file taxes but are not eligible for a Social Security Number. ITIN loans use this number in place of an SSN to qualify borrowers for a mortgage.
To qualify for an ITIN loan, you'll typically need a valid ITIN, a history of filing U.S. tax returns, proof of income (pay stubs, bank statements, or tax returns), and a down payment — usually 10–20% depending on the lender.
Credit history can be established through alternative sources if you don't have a traditional U.S. credit score — things like utility payments, rent history, and remittance records.
Joseph has helped many ITIN borrowers achieve homeownership across 12 states. If you or someone you know is interested in an ITIN loan, reach out at 480-773-5379 or [email protected].
